Ask yourself

Ask yourself

Okay, I said I would post a post a week and I am super behind…sorry!! This one is based on an article my friend sent me via wechat. It is in Chinese but I decided to translate it because I want to share it with you guys. However, some of the content only make sense in Chinese, so I couldn’t translate everything. As a result, the writing might seem all over the place. Nonetheless, I really hope you find it interesting. The article is very simple but it can really make you think.

When you want to give up, ask yourself..

  1. What do you want in life?

This is a very important question. You must ask yourself wholeheartedly. What do you want to achieve in life? What are your goals? What type of lifestyle do you ultimately want? You don’t have to tell others, just be true to yourself.

  1. What can you do now?

Do you want a nice car? Do you want a high class suite? Do you want to travel worldwide? Of course you do?! Then why don’t you do it? Ask yourself what you can do to get yourself closer to your goals.

  1. What are you doing now?

Are the things you are doing right now getting you closer to your goals? If not, then five years later wouldn’t you still be the same? Are you just hoping each year will get better? Why do some people never achieve their goals? It’s because they do the things that do not relate to their goals.

  1. What should you be doing?

Your current situation is decided upon the choices you have made three years ago. Likewise, the choices you currently make will become the lifestyle you will have three years from now. Whatever person you want to become, you must follow and learn from those types of people. If you want to enhance your ability or find someone who is very wise and knowledgeable to be your teacher, listen or read more successful biographies. Learn from those who have already achieved the successes that you want. Sadly, some people do not learn or take advices even if they are given the opportunity. They will have excuses:

1. I don’t like it.

2. I am too busy, no time.

3. I don’t think I am suitable.

How many of us actually do all the things we want to do? Ex. You want a car because it’s convenient and make life so much easier; not to mention it makes you happy. You want a condo downtown that is nice and comfortable. But, did you end up buying the car? Did you buy the condo? If not, why not? Because you have no money. That’s right. In reality, a lot of us do things for survival. Very few of us actually do the things we actually want to do. When you have no money, you don’t have the choice to be picky. It doesn’t matter whether you like it or not, because you’re forced to do it.

I am so busy, no time: Everyone has 24hrs a day. The only difference is how you allocate your time (which depends on whether you think it’s worth it.)

Are you telling me you spend all your time and energy on something already? If you are so busy every day, when will it end? If what you are doing is not helping you get closer to your goals, you should stop what you are doing immediately and find or do something that can really give you time and financial freedom. Don’t trade your life and time for money.

Do you know what is suitable for you? Do you let others tell you what is suitable for you? A lot of people underestimate themselves. You are able to do great things. You are able to succeed. But most of us only do the things we are accustomed to. Don’t reject opportunities and say you’re not suitable. Give yourself a chance. It’s better to have tried than to have never experienced.

  1. Thank you for translating the article for us, Grace! This is something that a lot of people should read and reflect on. Such important things in life that we fail to address and we just tend to stick with what society has taught us! Great post. 🙂

    1. Thanks for reading, Karen! I really like the article as well!! I think a lot of the times, people just stick to what’s “safe” and “expected”. A lot of people are unhappy with their lives, yet they’re not willing to change.

I will be translating more great articles soon! 🙂
