Zui Wu Dao. Finale?

To my dear readers,

I’m contemplating whether I should translate Vol 2. Chapter 51-60. The reason why I’m debating whether to translate 51-60 is because I am going to be introducing another 10 characters, but then I will be forced to stop because Part 3 doesn’t connect to Part 2, and there will be even more unanswered questions. Hence, I think it will be even more frustrating because as of right now, we already have so many questions that have yet to be answered.

At the beginning, my friend Kyle recommended me to translate this novel because he thought it was related to the manga version. At the time, I decided, sure why not? (It turns out the novel isn’t related to the manga at all. I know most of you were disappointed)

Anyhow, it wasn’t until after I translated a couple chapters did I realize that the author actually had written all 156 chapters, and then went back to edit her/his work. HOWEVER, she/he changed A LOT of the story because part three is totally different from part two. In part 3, Bai Tian was with Xuan Luo all along, and he was one of Wu Ya Zi’s disciples. Not only that, Dong Fang Yu got raped by a character that wasn’t even mentioned in part two. It is so different that I think the author gave up and stopped editing.

After I realized my mistake for translating a dropped novel, I still continued on because I didn’t want to quit after a few chapters. In addition, I felt like some part of the story is actually quite good…so it was worth it.

I honestly put  a lot of effort in every chapter. I sincerely hope you did not feel that it was a waste of time. If you feel like you have wasted a couple of hours reading, keep in mind that I have spent approximately 160 hours translating.

If you have read some of my other posts, you would know that I’m a sick translator. 😦  I have an autoimmune disorder and my body attacks itself. I suffer from a lot of inflammation and sometimes, I’m in constant pain (like every second). I usually don’t go into too much details, but there are days where I cannot walk without bleeding. I’ve had days where I couldn’t sit up to even use the computer because my skin is so sensitive that the air can cause me pain (It’s like having paper cuts all over your body).

Showering may be refreshing for most people, but it is one of the most painful things for me. Sometimes, simply walking to the washroom is a challenge (10 steps). These are a lot of things people don’t usually think about because it’s so natural for them.

The reason why I’m telling you this now is because I feel like we’ve been through more together  (lol only if you’ve been reading my translations, haha). If you appreciate all that I’ve done, it would mean a lot to me if you would donate $4 to me (around the price of a latte).

I honestly don’t like making my readers feel guilty, but I feel like after providing so many chapters of translations, you would buy me a cup of latte if we knew each other in real life.

I appreciate any support because my current situation doesn’t allow me to work. My workplace is understanding of my situation, so I still have my job. However, I do not have any income coming in unless I’m able to go out and get clients.

Compared to two years ago, I’m already doing much better. My face has healed and I’ve gained back around 10 kg. If you want, you can read about my experience at the hospital here. Nowadays, I rarely cry. In fact, I only cry about two-three times a month.

Created for me
My friends created this for me during the lowest times of my life. They were cheering me on, and their msgs made me cry buckets. T___T At the time, I was losing a lot of hair and I was down to 39 kg.

I don’t like feeling sorry for myself, and I don’t want to live a sad life. Therefore, I try to do things that I feel like would help and benefit others. That is the reason why I started blogging in the first place.

As for translating, it is extremely difficult for me because my Chinese is honestly not at a very high level. In fact, this is the first time I’ve ever read a novel in Simplified Chinese. I was never taught it, but I have some elementary Traditional Chinese background, so I can guess most of the characters since Simplified is derived from Traditional. It is still very hard for me though. A line that may take you a couple seconds to read can take me 5 minutes to translate.

However, I do find it very fulfilling because I actually did something. Despite how much pain I am in, I’ve been able to gain a couple hundred readers and over 240 thousand views on my blog. It makes me proud and it pushes me to do more. Some of you originally came only for the translations, but you also started reading my other posts. It truly means a lot to me.

Anyhow, sorry for the long rant. I’m willing to consider translating a new novel and/or any suggestions you guys may have. Please link me the novel if you want me to consider.

And if you really want 51-60, I could translate it. However, I guarantee you will definitely be even more frustrated. Let me know what you want or prefer. I’ll decide based on the comments I receive.

Acknowledgement

I want to thank Furrlo Rogers, Maria Lester, Alex Talbot, Jeobany Acosta, Roberto Recinos, Nicholas Knapp, and Stefanus Hendra for their donations to me. You guys were the only people who have donated to me but you could have saved your money or donated to someone else. I am forever grateful for your support. ❤

I would also like to thank Kyle, because if it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t have translated anything.

As well as Zim, for helping me get onto aho-updates. I had no clue what I was doing, but you were so patient with me and helped me a lot.

I also would like to thank everyone who has left me a comment and/or helped me in any way. NaoSouONight from reddit has thanked me from the beginning to the end (every single time I submit a new chapter). I honestly didn’t think anyone can be so dedicated with thanking LOL. I appreciate it.

I would also like to thank Ambi. Ambi read and commented on every single one of my translations as well as my promoted post (although she/he disappeared after Vol 45). Nonetheless, I am very touched by her/his gesture.

In addition, Dharmox was with me since the beginning. I don’t know if he/she still reads my translations (since I haven’t seen a comment recently), but I am very grateful for all his/her suggestions to help me improve.

Furthermore, Akkhun/Alex, Sulfr/Enrico, & Sneaky Twiggy/Dan have been massive supporters as well; most recently, agila0212/Daryl too!!

If I have mentioned you, it’s because you have commented so often that you have made a lasting impression on my mind. Although we have never met and I have no idea what you guys look like, I am very thankful for all the time you’ve spent commenting and reading.

Lastly, I also want to thank those who have linked me onto their sites and/blogs (novelupdates, wInupdate, wuxialist, kurotsuki-novel.blogspot.com and more)

If you read everything and got to the very end, thank you.

If you want to donate to me, here’s the button. Thank you.

Thank you so much to Sudarsan Lakshminarasimhan for your generous donation. I would never expect a stranger to donate so much to me. It truly means a lot. I hope you see this.

    1. And that was before even getting near the end. Damn. Autoimmune diseases are terrible.

Hmm I went away from these chapters for a while and came back to read a bunch together lol.

Hmm in terms of what to take up… I somewhat liked inch of radiance and I think it’s been dropped… so maybe that? I can’t think of any others tbh because most of them are either being actively translated… or is have absolutely no idea what the stories about because not a single chapters been translated…

Also Chinese blurbs kinda suck lol

Example: “A man races through time

Shooting a cow over a moon

Who dares to not bow to his shoe”

      1. Haha that sounds like a nice twist on the genre. Cool look forward to reading it xP

  1. I prey for your speedy recover, also thank you for all the work you have done. I really enjoyed reading Zui wu dao. But after hearing your conditions and obstacles, I feel selfish asking for you to do the remaining chapters of this manga. So in the future if you are willing to finish the manga that would be much appreciated. Thank you truely for what your doing because it’s awesome to read your finished works.

    1. Hi Kevin. The author gave up so I can’t continue. This novel is not the same as the manga version. I would’ve finished translating it, but he quit and I cannot create the story in my own head since I am the translator and not the story writer. But feel free to check out my other translations?!
