Guess who is featured in an interesting podcast!? (me)

To my dear readers,

Last week, my ex neighbour Jack picked me up and we recorded an interesting podcast with his friend and co-host Gavin in his “studio” (his room). Haha.

I haven’t seen Jack since 2002. He was 9 at the time.

It’s crazy how time flew by and we recently reconnected through facebook because he was trying to promote his podcast. Ahahahahaha.

Anyhow, the podcast is super interesting so you should listen.

Here’s briefly what we talked about: Continue reading “Guess who is featured in an interesting podcast!? (me)”

My Adventures on Discord

A couple weeks ago, I wrote on Reddit asking for novel suggestions. I was forced to stop translating Zui Wu Dao because the author had stop writing in the middle of the story. Hence, I was looking for something new to translate.

Originally, I started translating because I wanted to lure readers into my blog so they would read my personal posts. However, that didn’t go as well as I thought it would. The majority of my readers come purely for the translations. That’s it. The moment they get what they want, they leave.

As for my friends, they are not interested in my translations at all. They only want to read my personal posts.

Nonetheless, I still do both because it’s personal development and I am a very expressive person.

So on Reddit, an user told me to message a person called Amery Edge. Apparently, he does teasers on his site and he could give me some suggestions.

I decided to email him (at the time, I didn’t know it was a guy) to see what suggestions he would give me.

Amery was very helpful and specific in his email. He suggested “Your Highness, I know my wrongs” but I was quite reluctant at first because the story seemed really ridiculous and silly. (I mean, c’mon, the title is a turn off LOL) jk

I wanted a novel that would generate more views and donations. However, I didn’t want to be a total snob so I decided to at least read the first few chapters he had already translated.

I was instantly hooked. IT IS SO FREAKING GOOD.  Continue reading “My Adventures on Discord”

Controlling your mind

controlling your mind

Sorry I’ve been somewhat neglecting my personal blog posts. Recently, I have been out of ideas. For the longest time, I’ve been debating on what to write. I even googled “Interesting topics to write about”! Haha.

Anyway, today, I want to talk about controlling your mind.

Has it ever occurred to you that most of the pain we suffer from are caused by our thoughts?? Most of the time, when we are dealing with negative emotions, it is because we allow those emotions to grow.

Some may say, “I couldn’t help it.” True, to some extent, we do not have control over our thoughts. But in my opinion, we could change our state of mind if we allow it.

When I was little, I always saw myself as a victim. I always blamed everything on everyone else but myself. I felt like I didn’t have any control and life was just super unfair.

Your addictions are toxic

Addiction

This is a topic I have been meaning to write about since last year, but I kept putting it off.

Addiction is something we are all aware of. It’s when you’re constantly ingesting a substance or engaging in an activity that you find pleasurable. For example: drug, alcohol, gambling, shopping, gaming, and etc.

While the substance or activity itself may bring us pleasure, it is very harmful to us in the long run.

Why?

1. You lose self control. You’re no longer able to “live” without it because you’re constantly thinking or craving for it.

2. Time and money is scarce. We only have 24 hours a day. If you spend 5+ (or however long you spend) hours feeding your addiction, you will have less time to do other things, or take care of other responsibilities.

Getting Personal

I’m not sure if you have noticed, but recently I have been getting more personal with my readers. In the past, I would pick a certain topic and then write about it. (Ex. Social AnxietyFearAttention, and so on).

But these days, I have been sharing more about myself (10 Facts About MyselfReflection,Conversation Tips *personal experience*)

The Little Prince

The Little Prince

Many of you may have heard of the book called, “My Little Prince”. It is a well known classic although most of us may not have read it. I’ve had a copy since I was a child, but I never got passed Chapter One because I was young and foolish back then. Recently though, thanks to Ramexabella, I decided to give the book another try.

Now I can say it’s my favourite fictional book.

This is a very bold statement considering how much I used to read.

It is so good that I am inspired to write about it. I want everyone else to read it.

What makes it so special?

There is so much depth and meaning. The words stay with me even after the book is closed. It’s about life, childhood, and mankind.

I don’t want to tell you what the story is about, but I want to share some of the lessons from the book.

Back in the little Prince’s planet, there were invisible seeds. Some were good, and some were bad. At first, everything looks alright. The baobabs (bad seeds) resemble the rosebushes (good seeds). Therefore, one must check regularly to see what is growing. As soon as a baobab can be recognized, it must be torn out. If you intervene too late, you will never get rid of it. Its roots will spread all over the planet and your planet can explode.

5.0.2

This may seem ridiculous, but it’s a matter of discipline. “Before they grow to such a size, baobabs start out by being small.

The way I interpret this is that the baobab represents our negative thoughts. We’re constantly surrounded by negativity. We are not aware of the impact it can have on us if we allow it to grow. If we leave it, it can be indestructible.

Personally, I know some people who cannot see the good in anything. They are so negative that all they feel is hate, anger, and sadness. They have allowed their baobabs to multiply and it has consumed their world.

Lesson: It is important that we reflect on our actions and thoughts on a regular basis. If there is an issue that bothers or saddens you, deal with it immediately! Don’t wait.

New Year’s Resolutions

New Year's resolution

This post is intended to give you motivation and FIRE you up!!! (If it makes you mad, I apologize in advance).

Okay, guys. 2015 is just around the corner. Most of us make New Year’s Resolutions every year, but very few of us actually stick to it. I’m going to share with you how you can make your New Year’s Resolutions come true.

1. First, decide on a goal you want to achieve. I am going to use losing weight as an example, as it is a very popular goal.
2. List 3 things that you know you can do DAILY to help you achieve your goal (Please be realistic). For example:

1. 30 burpees
2. 30 push ups
3. 30 jumping jacks

Now, I know what you’re all going to say, you’re going to say, “Uh, that’s not going to work. How is doing that going to help me lose weight? It’s never going to happen. I just know it.” But guys, listen to me. The point is, you have to do this EVERYDAY. You think it doesn’t make a difference? Let’s assume there are 30 days in a month, that would mean by the end of the month, you have have completed 900 more burpees, 900 more push ups, and 900 more jumping jacks than the person who did nothing. However, THIS IS ONLY TRUE IF YOU DO WHAT YOU SAID YOU ARE GOING TO DO.

A True Athlete

Vegeta

Please watch the video before proceeding to my post. It’s 3 minutes long. I could not find the original on youtube but this one has the same content.

I was shown this video at an Entrepreneur business building event. At the beginning (about a minute into the video), I already knew it was going to be a “sad motivating” type of video.

Or I thought I knew.

I was wrong. I had no idea that the video would impact me so much. By the time I was half way through, I was no longer able to contain my emotions and the streams of tears from pouring down my face. I have never seen a video that has hit me so hard (no pun intended).

At first, when Derek fell down in agony, I felt sorry for him. In my mind, I was thinking, “Poor dude. He must be devastated. He probably trained for years to get this far. He might never have this opportunity again.”

I was sad, but I wasn’t moved.

The story of two families

Chicken

Note: One of my managers told me this story at work. It is very simple, but contains deep meaning.

It was a cold wintery night, and two families were suffering from starvation. They were so hungry and begged God for a miracle. Suddenly, both families received a knock at the door. A kind gentleman was generously distributing chickens around the area. He gave each household a chicken.

Both families were very grateful and could not believe their luck. Family A thought, “Finally! We have waited for far too long. Time for this suffering to end. Let’s eat!” And so, they quickly slaughtered the chicken and gobbled it up. They were SO hungry.

However, Family B took a different set of approach. Family B thought, “No, we mustn’t eat the chicken yet. We still have some scraps left. We can still survive…even if it means we must suffer a bit longer. Let’s take care of the chicken first and wait for it to grow. It will be worth it.”
