Three reasons why/how I stay positive

three-fingers

To my dear (old) blog readers,

I’m back! Sorry I haven’t been blogging for the past month or so. I stopped blogging weekly about half a year ago but I have decided to continue once again! (Let’s hope I can last for awhile).

Anyhow, one of the questions I get asked most often is: “Grace, how do you stay so positive all the time despite everything you’re going through?”

Some of you may or may not know that I have an autoimmune disorder that affects me on a normal basis. Some days are extremely difficult for me because I’m in constant pain. Despite this, generally, I’m quite content with my life. Here is why:

1. I do things I enjoy.

This may seem very simple, but it makes a huge difference. When I’m feeling ok, I do things that make me happy. For instance, I love singing. I would go karaoke with my friends, sing to Youtube videos, and sometimes, I even go on discord to sing on random servers and gather audiences from all over the world. 😛

I also read books that motivate or enlighten me. I believe words are very powerful and many people underestimate what words can do. Whenever I am inspired, I actually take notes and eventually plan to write a post on it to share with my readers. I like empowering people.

2. I have goals and a purpose.

There’s a reason for everything I do. I know what I want, and I know what I need to do in order to achieve my goals. Basically, I want to improve people’s lives. I genuinely believe my blog can either motivate, broaden your views, and/or give you some tips.

If you read my translations, I believe I am sharing a good story with you guys. People read my translations because they can’t or prefer not to read Chinese. This means my actions are improving their lives because now they can enjoy the story as well. Continue reading “Three reasons why/how I stay positive”

Guess who is featured in an interesting podcast!? (me)

To my dear readers,

Last week, my ex neighbour Jack picked me up and we recorded an interesting podcast with his friend and co-host Gavin in his “studio” (his room). Haha.

I haven’t seen Jack since 2002. He was 9 at the time.

It’s crazy how time flew by and we recently reconnected through facebook because he was trying to promote his podcast. Ahahahahaha.

Anyhow, the podcast is super interesting so you should listen.

Here’s briefly what we talked about: Continue reading “Guess who is featured in an interesting podcast!? (me)”

My Adventures on Discord

A couple weeks ago, I wrote on Reddit asking for novel suggestions. I was forced to stop translating Zui Wu Dao because the author had stop writing in the middle of the story. Hence, I was looking for something new to translate.

Originally, I started translating because I wanted to lure readers into my blog so they would read my personal posts. However, that didn’t go as well as I thought it would. The majority of my readers come purely for the translations. That’s it. The moment they get what they want, they leave.

As for my friends, they are not interested in my translations at all. They only want to read my personal posts.

Nonetheless, I still do both because it’s personal development and I am a very expressive person.

So on Reddit, an user told me to message a person called Amery Edge. Apparently, he does teasers on his site and he could give me some suggestions.

I decided to email him (at the time, I didn’t know it was a guy) to see what suggestions he would give me.

Amery was very helpful and specific in his email. He suggested “Your Highness, I know my wrongs” but I was quite reluctant at first because the story seemed really ridiculous and silly. (I mean, c’mon, the title is a turn off LOL) jk

I wanted a novel that would generate more views and donations. However, I didn’t want to be a total snob so I decided to at least read the first few chapters he had already translated.

I was instantly hooked. IT IS SO FREAKING GOOD.  Continue reading “My Adventures on Discord”

Controlling your mind

controlling your mind

Sorry I’ve been somewhat neglecting my personal blog posts. Recently, I have been out of ideas. For the longest time, I’ve been debating on what to write. I even googled “Interesting topics to write about”! Haha.

Anyway, today, I want to talk about controlling your mind.

Has it ever occurred to you that most of the pain we suffer from are caused by our thoughts?? Most of the time, when we are dealing with negative emotions, it is because we allow those emotions to grow.

Some may say, “I couldn’t help it.” True, to some extent, we do not have control over our thoughts. But in my opinion, we could change our state of mind if we allow it.

When I was little, I always saw myself as a victim. I always blamed everything on everyone else but myself. I felt like I didn’t have any control and life was just super unfair.

Daring to Fly

Cambodia

This week’s Monday post is about my Moo Moo. Haha. She has a blog now. You can check her out here.

In a few days, my Moo Moo will be flying to Cambodia to start a new chapter of her life!!! She is actually leaving her family, friends, and loved ones to open a school/learning centre for English learners in a country where she doesn’t speak the language.

So brave, eh?

Most people are in shock. Why would you do that? Wow, that’s so risky. You’re going to leave Canada? Damnnnnnn…

But it has always been a dream of hers to start her own business. She wants to run her own thing and be in charge; rather than work for someone else.

Honestly, I’m extremely proud of her. Many people dream, but few are willing to take the risk. It takes a lot of courage to go pursue your dreams when most people are doubting your chances of success.

Think and Grow Rich

Originally, I was going to write a post on, “Why I hate the Education System”. But I’ll save that for next week since the book “Think And Grow Rich” is freshly on my mind.

I’ve heard great things about the book, so I figured, why not read the book? After all, you can never be too inspired, right? 😉

Anyhow, in my opinion, the book is powerful BUT some of the chapters seemed a bit repetitive and/or unnecessary. I definitely didn’t read every word, but there are some very meaningful/deep points that intrigued me. I would like to share them with you:

1. “A quitter never wins – and a winner never quits.”

This is so simple and obvious. However, I find it so inspiring. If you want to succeed in anything, you have to keep going even when things are tough. If you quit, then you automatically lose.

This reminds me of a time when someone told me, “I never listen to quitters.”

Many times, quitters will tell you that you cannot do things because they themselves couldn’t do it. Has a winner ever told you to quit?
