Quote Challenge 2/3

Tame quote

This is my second post for the quote challenge. You can read part one here.

This is a quote from “The Little Prince”.

Tame quote 2

I really like this quote because it is so simple, yet deep. In life, there are a lot of things that seem to be ordinary at first glance. Humans are everywhere. Cars. Animals. You get the point.

So what makes something special? Does it even matter if one of us were suddenly to disappear? Would anyone notice?

Yes. For those who have “established ties” with you, they would.

Quote Challenge 1/3

Ahh!!! I have been nominated to do a quote challenge! I’ve been putting it off because I am super lazy. But I do appreciate Shannon for always nominating me for awards and challenges. Sometimes, I’ll never do anything unless I am pushed.

Rules for Three-Day Quote Challenge:

  • Thank the blogger, who nominated you.
  • Publish 3 quotes on 3 consecutive days in your blog. It can be your own, or from a book, movie or from anyone who inspires you. (Yeah, that’s probably not going to happen. But I’ll try to make the post worth your time)
  • Nominate 3 more bloggers to carry on this endeavor. (I will do this after I’ve completed the challenge)

Anyhow, the quote that I find really meaningful is:

Alchemist quote

This is a quote from the book, “The Alchemist”. One of my friends gave me this book for my birthday and it is definitely one of the most powerful, influential books I’ve ever read in my life. As I was reading it, I felt like it was written for me. The author’s perception of life is exactly like mines. It’s as if the author could read my mind.

Getting Personal

I’m not sure if you have noticed, but recently I have been getting more personal with my readers. In the past, I would pick a certain topic and then write about it. (Ex. Social AnxietyFearAttention, and so on).

But these days, I have been sharing more about myself (10 Facts About MyselfReflection,Conversation Tips *personal experience*)

Reflection

Reflection

Yesterday, I turned 27. I feel young and old at the same time. Young- because there are still many years ahead of me (hopefully). Old- because some of my friends are already starting families of their own.

I start reflecting about my life. What have I done? What have I accomplished? What have I overcome?

The Little Prince

The Little Prince

Many of you may have heard of the book called, “My Little Prince”. It is a well known classic although most of us may not have read it. I’ve had a copy since I was a child, but I never got passed Chapter One because I was young and foolish back then. Recently though, thanks to Ramexabella, I decided to give the book another try.

Now I can say it’s my favourite fictional book.

This is a very bold statement considering how much I used to read.

It is so good that I am inspired to write about it. I want everyone else to read it.

What makes it so special?

There is so much depth and meaning. The words stay with me even after the book is closed. It’s about life, childhood, and mankind.

I don’t want to tell you what the story is about, but I want to share some of the lessons from the book.

Back in the little Prince’s planet, there were invisible seeds. Some were good, and some were bad. At first, everything looks alright. The baobabs (bad seeds) resemble the rosebushes (good seeds). Therefore, one must check regularly to see what is growing. As soon as a baobab can be recognized, it must be torn out. If you intervene too late, you will never get rid of it. Its roots will spread all over the planet and your planet can explode.

5.0.2

This may seem ridiculous, but it’s a matter of discipline. “Before they grow to such a size, baobabs start out by being small.

The way I interpret this is that the baobab represents our negative thoughts. We’re constantly surrounded by negativity. We are not aware of the impact it can have on us if we allow it to grow. If we leave it, it can be indestructible.

Personally, I know some people who cannot see the good in anything. They are so negative that all they feel is hate, anger, and sadness. They have allowed their baobabs to multiply and it has consumed their world.

Lesson: It is important that we reflect on our actions and thoughts on a regular basis. If there is an issue that bothers or saddens you, deal with it immediately! Don’t wait.

Things to consider when investing

Investing

Last week, I shared some conversation tips with my readers. This week, I would like to share some investment tips. Originally, I wasn’t planning to blog about this today. However, the recent stock market turmoil has pushed me to do so.

The issue with the stock market is that people are too greedy and self absorbed. They think they can time the market. They believe they can make quick money. They know risk is involved, but it doesn’t occur to them that they could lose everything.

In my opinion, the stock market will go up in the long run. There will always be ups and downs, but generally, if you are investing for long term, you’ll be fine. HOWEVER, if you’re looking to make a lot of money in a short amount of time, it is very VERY risky.

Conversation Tips

Print

Do you want to have a good conversation? Is there someone you want to talk to, but you don’t know how to proceed? Today, I’m going to share some of my conversation tips with my readers.

Note: These tips are all based on my experiences. I am not an expert and I cannot not guarantee a good conversation.

Finding a connection (This applies for people you’ve never spoken to)

Often, when I attend big events, parties, or weddings, I tend to meet a lot of new people. If I happen to see someone I don’t know standing and/or sitting alone, I may go up to them and initiate a conversation.

First, I will smile and say, “Hi!” And wait for a response. If the person says hi back but quickly looks down or away, I just move on.

The Blogger Recognition Award

bloggerrecognitionaward

Thank you so much to Shannon (Forevershannon) who recently nominated me for my first virtual award ever (The Blogger Recognition Award)! Please take some time to check out her amazing blog!! She is only 14 but her posts are so inspirational and touches me from the bottom of my heart. ❤

Here’s a quick summary of the rules: 1) write a post explaining why you started blogging along with a few tips, 2) nominate some of your fellow bloggers, and 3) comment on their blogs to let them know you’ve nominated them.

I started blogging because my friend Karen suggested that I should share my thoughts with the world. She thought I had a lot of good content/ideas and blogging would help me grow as well. At first, I was a bit hesitant because I didn’t know whether blogging was something I wanted to start. I’ve never had a strong desire to write and I didn’t think this was something I would commit to. Nonetheless, I decided there was no harm in trying, so I posted my first blog post on February of 2014.

A society with messed up values

Values

A couple weeks ago, I had a very interesting conversation with a friend. I was telling him that I don’t have facebook on my phone because the app is too heavy (takes up too much space) and my phone cannot handle it. Surprisingly, he told me his phone cannot handle whatsapp!

Clearly, we should get new phones.

But we are both reluctant. We both shared our reasons.
