ISIS’s PR campaign + Rap

My title looks ridiculous, but you’ll understand as you keep reading.

Last week, I caught up with a friend and we had a conversation about ISIS. She said, “I wouldn’t underestimate ISIS. They have a pretty good PR campaign going on.”

Without thinking, I blurted out, “What?” Continue reading “ISIS’s PR campaign + Rap”

My thoughts on the Paris shooting

Paris

Disclaimer: This is purely my own opinions. I am not saying that my views are correct, but this is how I feel. Please do not take it personally.

When I found out about the terrorist attack in Paris on November 13th, I was so sad. All these innocent lives. Gone.

I feel so heartbroken even though it didn’t happen in my country, or to anyone related to me.

I thought about my friends and I, going to a concert. You know, just wanting to have a good time. Then, BOOM. Bloodshed everywhere. Dead bodies everywhere. Continue reading “My thoughts on the Paris shooting”

Helping the Homeless: Happy Feet

Socks from car view

Yesterday, my friend Jasmine and a bunch of us went downtown to hand out socks to the homeless. Approximately a month ago, Jasmine wrote a facebook message in her community group asking for sock donations.

Facebook group msg

Within 24 hours, over 100 people responded to the post!

People were extremely giving. Some wanted to donate toothpastes, gift cards, toothbrushes, money, and so on. But Jasmine decided it was too unfair since only some of the homeless would get the extra stuff. Therefore, she made it clear that only socks were accepted.

Donation box

In addition, SIMS Medical Corp donated a huge box of BRAND NEW medical socks to us. We are extremely thankful.

So yesterday, we met at a parking lot in downtown Toronto. Upon our arrival, we were surprised by another kind deed.

Parking meter

A previous car owner had paid for full day parking but left early. He/she decided to leave his/her ticket for the another person to use. SO KIND!!!

Anyhow, here’s a picture of the amount of socks we had.

What is Success?

This week, I would like to talk about success. Please pause and take a moment to think about it. What does success mean to you?

In my opinion, in today’s society, we are too consumed by money. It seems like money is what we use to define someone who is “successful”. The more money you have, the more things you have, the more you are “winning” in life.

While I do believe money is important, I believe the process of attaining the money is important as well. What do I mean by that?

Well, are you satisfied with your job? What are you trading in order to get the money? Continue reading “What is Success?”

Relationship Goals

Relationship goals

This week’s post is inspired by my friend’s loving relationship with her boyfriend. She wants to stay anonymous, so let’s call her “Justine” and her man, “Justin”. Haha.

Justine and Justin always seem so happy together. They never appear to have any arguments, and it seems like they’re still in their honeymoon stage after 6 years of dating. It’s as if their relationship is perfect.

I started to observe them. I wanted to know what it is that makes their relationship so successful.

Born To Win

It turns out that my Uncle Aaron reads my blog!!!! He checks my facebook weekly for my new post! I am quite delighted and surprised because I never knew I had a secret fan. (Hehe, thanks Uncle!) Anyhow, my uncle recommended a book called, “Born To Win” to me, and he gave me his copy from 40 years ago! Currently, I’m still in the process of reading it but it’s very interesting. I am actually taking notes as I read it. Haha. It is a book on psychology, and there are many experiments and exercises you can do that allows you to become more aware of the person that you are.

There are two topics that especially stood out to me, and I want to share it with my readers.

Quote Challenge 3/3

This is my last post for the quote challenge.

Tuesdays with Morrie quote

This quote is from “Tuesdays with Morrie”, one of my favourite books. I really like this quote because it’s so true. We all know we’re going to die one day, but in our minds, that’s not going to happen for another 50-70 years (depending how long you think you’re going to live).

As a result, most people continue living the same way that they’ve always lived.

Quote Challenge 2/3

Tame quote

This is my second post for the quote challenge. You can read part one here.

This is a quote from “The Little Prince”.

Tame quote 2

I really like this quote because it is so simple, yet deep. In life, there are a lot of things that seem to be ordinary at first glance. Humans are everywhere. Cars. Animals. You get the point.

So what makes something special? Does it even matter if one of us were suddenly to disappear? Would anyone notice?

Yes. For those who have “established ties” with you, they would.

Quote Challenge 1/3

Ahh!!! I have been nominated to do a quote challenge! I’ve been putting it off because I am super lazy. But I do appreciate Shannon for always nominating me for awards and challenges. Sometimes, I’ll never do anything unless I am pushed.

Rules for Three-Day Quote Challenge:

  • Thank the blogger, who nominated you.
  • Publish 3 quotes on 3 consecutive days in your blog. It can be your own, or from a book, movie or from anyone who inspires you. (Yeah, that’s probably not going to happen. But I’ll try to make the post worth your time)
  • Nominate 3 more bloggers to carry on this endeavor. (I will do this after I’ve completed the challenge)

Anyhow, the quote that I find really meaningful is:

Alchemist quote

This is a quote from the book, “The Alchemist”. One of my friends gave me this book for my birthday and it is definitely one of the most powerful, influential books I’ve ever read in my life. As I was reading it, I felt like it was written for me. The author’s perception of life is exactly like mines. It’s as if the author could read my mind.

Getting Personal

I’m not sure if you have noticed, but recently I have been getting more personal with my readers. In the past, I would pick a certain topic and then write about it. (Ex. Social AnxietyFearAttention, and so on).

But these days, I have been sharing more about myself (10 Facts About MyselfReflection,Conversation Tips *personal experience*)
